JILL SCHALK - Teacher

Jill began her dance training at the age of three with the Listowel school of dance. No stranger to LSOD Jill spent 15 years training here. During her time with LSOD she was part of the performance company Kaleidoscope, as well as taking part in the competitive company, being the LSOD's first competitive student. Jill also took part in Canada's National Ballet School's summer intensive for the summer months of 2008. Jill has achieved high marks in multiple examinations through the Royal Academy of dance including Intermediate Ballet with Merit and Grade 7 Ballet with Distinction, as well as Pre-Elementary - Highly commended with the Society of Russian Ballet.

Jill has been an active volunteer with the LSOD during her off time and has always come out to support younger dancers during her off time from school.  Jill is also well known with local kids as she worked with the summer camp program and led Dance Camp for several years. 

Jill was crowned Miss Paddyfest in 2016 having won both the Talent award and the Congeniality award that year.

After graduating from high school Jill continued her education at Laurentian University where she studied Communications. During her 4 years in Sudbury Jill also was a part of the Laurentian University Dance Pack performing at Basketball game halftime shows, as well as the Voyageurs Competitive Dance Team. Jill was captain of this team for 2 years and expanded the competitions for this team.

Jill has been involved with many musical productions as well through elementary school, high school with Black Box and the Grey Wellington Theatre Guild starring in the lead role for The Wizard of Oz as Dorothy.  Jill also did some performing with a smaller Listowel based theatre. 

In her spare time, Jill plays competitive softball for the Palmerston Marlins, pick-up women’s hockey, fishes and canoes, snowboards and enjoys most outdoor activities.  She is the proud mother of Aspen, her beautiful Golden Retriever.
